Netflix has assembled an impressive cast for Women Like Us, an upcoming ensemble comedy starring Whoopi Goldberg, Jenifer Lewis, Vanessa Williams and Vivica A. Fox.
The film, announced July 27, is a joint production between Macro and Higher Ground, the production company founded by Barack and Michelle Obama. Tasha Smith is set to direct, with production scheduled to begin in New York City this fall.

Women Like Us follows a recently widowed woman who is brought to the Hamptons by her lifelong best friends and sister on what would have been her 30th wedding anniversary. What begins as a getaway becomes an emotional reckoning with grief, marriage and the friendships that have supported the women throughout their lives.
The trip also leads the women to confront an important realization: their dreams do not have an expiration date.
The screenplay was written by Ali Kinney, with additional writing by Tracy Oliver. James Lopez and Poppy Hanks are producing for Macro, while Anikah McLaren and Mark R. Wright are producing for Higher Ground. Michelle Obama and Charles D. King are attached as executive producers.

The project marks the first collaboration between Macro, founded by Charles D. King, and Higher Ground.
Goldberg, an Oscar winner and EGOT recipient, leads the ensemble alongside longtime television and film star Lewis, with Williams and Fox bringing their own extensive film and television experience to the cast.
Netflix has not yet announced a release date for Women Like Us, and no additional cast members have been revealed.
