Father Who Lost All Three Children Found Love Again With a NYC Fertility Doctor — Here’s How They Met

A New Chapter After Unimaginable Loss

Patrick Clancy, the father whose three young children were killed by his ex-wife in their Massachusetts home in 2023, has quietly rebuilt his life in New York City, remarrying earlier this year as her murder trial finally gets underway.

A New Life in Manhattan

Public records show Patrick relocated to Manhattan roughly four months after the tragedy, eventually settling into a Midtown high-rise. There, he met Dr. Rachel Danis, a reproductive endocrinologist and infertility specialist at a New York fertility clinic, who also serves as an assistant clinical professor at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai.

A Relationship Built Gradually

Social media posts chronicle the couple’s relationship developing over time, including shared workout classes and a joint appearance at the 2025 NYC Marathon. The two married in April during an intimate ceremony at Central Park’s Ladies Pavilion, followed by a celebration at a nearby restaurant with close friends and family.

Friends Describe a Healing Partnership

A friend of the couple described Danis as a naturally nurturing and upbeat presence, noting the poignant symbolism of her career helping create new life in the aftermath of such profound loss. The friend also praised Patrick’s resilience, expressing admiration for his ability to move forward rather than allow the tragedy to define the rest of his life.

A Father’s Complicated Public Stance

Despite the horror of losing his children, Patrick has remained publicly supportive of his ex-wife throughout the years since the killings, previously telling reporters that he didn’t view her as a monster, but as someone who had become seriously ill.

A Trial Now Underway

As Lindsay Clancy’s triple-murder trial begins in Plymouth County, Patrick is expected to be the first witness called to testify, appearing initially for the prosecution despite also being listed as a potential witness for the defense. His testimony is expected to address their marriage, home life, and his observations of his then-wife’s mental state in the lead-up to the killings.

A Defense Built Around Mental Illness

The defense is expected to argue that Lindsay Clancy was suffering from severe postpartum psychosis, compounded by psychiatric medication, at the time of the killings. Prosecutors, however, are expected to contend that she acted with clear intent, allegedly planning to get her husband out of the house before killing their children.

Protecting the Children’s Memory in Court

Ahead of the trial, Patrick filed a motion seeking to prevent public release of his 911 call and any crime scene or autopsy images of his children, along with restrictions on displaying their clothing in court. A judge granted the request, though the evidence will still be shown to those present in the courtroom, with reporters permitted to discuss its contents.

Moving Forward While Facing the Past

As Patrick prepares to take the stand in one of the case’s most emotionally difficult moments, his personal life in New York now reflects a quiet, deliberate effort to rebuild, even as he continues to confront the tragedy that reshaped his life.
