Scotty McCreery is celebrating a major viral milestone after his heartfelt cover of Conway Twitty’s country classic “Hello Darlin’” surpassed 40 million views online, prompting the release of the full studio recording as part of his new anniversary album, 15.
Fifteen years after winning American Idol Season 10, McCreery marked the career milestone with 15, released on July 17. The album features nine of his biggest hits alongside four new recordings, including fresh takes on beloved country classics. Among them is “Hello Darlin’,” a song that has long been a fan favorite during his live performances.
McCreery first teased the recording on June 23 with a short clip shared across his social media accounts. The response was overwhelming. The video quickly exploded in popularity, earning more than 41 million views on Instagram, over 39 million on Facebook and more than 1.3 million on TikTok, making it one of the biggest viral moments of his career.
Reacting to the incredible response, McCreery shared, “40 million views later 🤯,” before announcing that fans could finally hear the complete version of “Hello Darlin’” on his new album.
The anniversary project also revisits another song closely tied to McCreery’s journey. He recorded a new version of Josh Turner’s “Your Man” — the song that helped launch his American Idol audition in 2011 — this time as a duet with Turner himself.
“Getting to know him has been something little Scotty would never have imagined, and having the honor of recording ‘Your Man’ with him is a moment I’ll never get over,” McCreery said in a press release.
Turner returned the compliment while jokingly taking credit for McCreery’s success.
“He came on the scene singing that song and has had a great career ever since,” Turner said. “Of course, I take credit for all of his success! Congrats to Scotty on 15 years! It’s no small feat.”
