Prince Harry and James Corden reunited on TV to talk World Cup and the top British Harry.
The Duke of Sussex, 41, joined After Hours with James Corden following the World Cup on Sunday, July 19, recapping all the action between Spain and Argentina as well as England’s heartbreaking semifinal loss. They also addressed an ongoing debate that Corden and co-host Rio Ferdinand began earlier in the season: who is the U.K.’s top Harry?
Ferdinand, a former star for England’s national team, didn’t jump straight to the country’s star striker, Harry Kane, who inspired the question in the first place. Instead, Harry Styles topped his list, followed by Harry Potter, Kane and Prince Harry.
The Duke of Sussex was put on the spot to do his own ranking of the four Harrys, but he was initially hesitant to lock in his answer. “There’s a conflict of interest here!” he protested, before ultimately agreeing that Styles took the top spot.
“Great shout!” Corden praised.
Prince Harry has firsthand experience with the pop star, 32. The prince met Styles, along with the other members of One Direction at the 2025 Royal Variety Performance.
The Duke of Sussex then put Kane in his second spot, then settled on a tie for third between himself and Harry Potter.
“And we’ll have a Quidditch off,” he joked, to a round of applause.

Prince Harry also talked soccer — or “football,” as he corrected Corden — when asked what he thought it might take for England to reach the final for the first time since their only victory in 1966.
“I think it’s a mindset,” he said, referencing the country’s shocking last-minute semifinal loss to Argentina, where the latter scored two goals in the final minutes and extra time to beat the Three Lions 2-1.
“I think that what we saw was a slight shock value for the team,” he recounted. “‘We’re 1-nil up against Argentina, and then there was this immediate temptation to fall into defense…I don’t think that was the plan. It just happened. And you can’t, in 75 minutes, however long it was, try to defend a 1-0 lead against a team like that.”
“You need to come on my podcast and do this with me,” Ferdinand replied.

Corden, 47, is a longtime friend of Harry’s, and the host was even a guest at Harry’s wedding to Meghan Markle in 2018.
After the Duke and Duchess of Sussex relocated to California in 2020 after stepping back as working members of the royal family, Harry appeared on The Late Late Show with James Corden in 2021. The pair rode around Hollywood on an open-air double-decker tour bus, visited the original home used in The Fresh Prince of Bel Air and more during the segment.
Prince Harry also attended the filming of the final episode of The Late Late Show in April 2023.

The appearance comes just a week after Harry returned to the U.K. for his family’s first reunion with King Charles in four years. Following weeks of negotiations over security and accommodations, the King, 77, and Queen Camilla, 78, welcomed Harry and his wife, 44, and their children, Prince Archie, 7, and Princess Lilibet, 5, to their Highgrove House residence in the English countryside on Friday, July 10.
A well-placed source told PEOPLE for this week’s cover story that the frustration over keeping his family connected is a longtime issue for Harry. “This is not the first time it has not been plain sailing with correspondence or trying to make things work,” the source said. “It all comes back to security. If that was resolved, there would be so much more certainty every time he comes—or they come.”
However, royal author Catherine Mayer said that even the smallest step forward is progress for the fractured royal family.
“One of the strangenesses of the monarchy is that we are all encouraged to forget they’re human beings because they’re representatives of the institution,” Mayer noted. “But at its heart it is just a family—and this family has gone through extraordinary upheavals. Whatever you think of the monarchy, this is a moment most of us wanted to see happen.”
Harry’s estranged brother, Prince William, is an avid soccer fan and patron of the English Football Association. However, during his surprise appearance on Jason and Travis Kelce’s New Heights podcast earlier this month, the Prince of Wales confirmed that he would only make the trip across the Atlantic if England’s team made the finals. The Three Lions’ semifinal loss to Argentina closed the door on both brothers being in the U.S. at the same time.

William admitted to the Kelces that he was “quietly confident” about England’s chances, but past World Cup heartbreak had cautioned him not to let his hopes get too high.
“I always felt like we had a really good chance. But as each World Cup goes on and the results don’t quite go your way… A little bit of hope gets chipped away each time,” he said. “And so I’m just, you know, I’m taking it calmly and quietly and like, come on, we’re going to do well and see how we go.”
