For Ridley Scott, making The Dog Stars was not only about creating a tense story of survival after a devastating pandemic. It was also an opportunity to work with a cast capable of bringing very different personalities and perspectives to an isolated post-apocalyptic world.

Among them, Margaret Qualley left a particularly strong impression on the legendary director.

Ultimately, Scott’s experience with Qualley appears to have been one of the more enjoyable aspects of making The Dog Stars.

Her humor, openness and willingness to speak directly made an impression on the director, who repeatedly emphasizes how much personality she brought to the production.

For a filmmaker with decades of experience working with major stars, Scott’s enthusiasm for Qualley is notable. Her performance as Cima gives the post-apocalyptic story another emotional dimension, particularly as the character faces the possibility of losing the last familiar pieces of her old life.
