Sofronio Vasquez became emotional as he remembered his late father, whom he called his “hero”.

In his recent interview, Sofronio said that he knows how happy his father would have been for his “The Voice USA” win if he was still alive.
“Because he loved to sing. He was my coach, but I can’t tell him that I won. He won’t be able to brag about me to his friends,” he said.
During times when he would lack confidence in himself, Sofronio would talk to his dad in his mind.
“I would just say, ‘If you were here, what would you tell me?’ And I’d hear his voice saying, ‘Just breathe. You can do it.’ He always told me that every time you sing, don’t forget to do the sign of the cross,” he said.

In memory of his father, Sofronio would always do the sign of the cross.
He also shared about his The Voice USA coach Michael Bublé, who he considers a mentor and guide.
“What I appreciated was that Michael Bublé would always tell me, ‘You don’t have to be technically perfect because you’re a person. Sometimes, perfection is boring. Imperfection is better,'” he said.
Sofronio returned to the Philippines this January after making history in December as the first Filipino and Asian to win The Voice USA.
He had a grand homecoming on It’s Showtime and paid a courtesy call on President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. at the Malacañang Palace.
Sofronio is set to hold his first solo concert in Cebu on January 18.”
