The She’s All That star stepped out for a night on the town with wife Sarah Michelle Gellar as they celebrated his 50th birthday on March 8.
For the festivities, the couple—who have been married since 2002—hosted a party at Juniper Garden at 1 Hotel in West Hollywood, Calif., with their friends and family in attendance.
Naturally, Sarah, 48, and Freddie arrived in style, and even coordinated their outfits with a neutral gold color scheme. The Buffy the Vampire Slayer alum—who recently announced the Hulu reboot had been canceled—opted for a gold sequin minidress and matching gold metallic pointed-toe heels. Meanwhile, Freddie leaned into a more casual look with a cream-colored shirt, tan sweater and khakis, along with a pair of sneakers.

While the duo—who are parents to daughter Charlotte, 16, and son Rocky, 13—have been together for nearly 25 years, the outing marks a rare date night for them. In fact, the last time they were spotted on a red carpet together was in July for the Los Angeles premiere of their movie I Know What You Did Last Summer.
But even though they’re intentional about keeping their decades-long relationship out of the spotlight, Sarah and Freddie aren’t shy about revealing their tips for a successful marriage—no matter how candid those pointers may be.
For Sarah, her answer is a simple one. “Separate bathrooms,” the Star Search judge told E! News in January. “That’s what I always say.”

As for her husband’s perspective, he believes the best approach to marriage is to ignore any outside guidance.
“I’ve never gotten any good advice,” he admitted to E! News last July. “Most of the marriage advice came from dudes that were divorced that thought we would get divorced, too. They were trying to deal with their own issues.”
Noting that any advice would be “like peanut butter” because “I may think it’s delicious, but if you’re allergic, you’re dead,” the Scooby Doo alum added, “So, it doesn’t always apply as well as we would hope. I’ve gotten a lot of bad advice about marriage.”
Freddie also credited their success to their strategic decision of avoiding typical Hollywood hotspots.
“I know how easy it’s been for us ‘cause I don’t go anywhere,” he said on the Oldish podcast in 2024. “People don’t see Sarah and I out and about at the popular places. We have our restaurants that we like, and they’re not super trendy in places where paparazzi hang out. So we’re good at avoiding it.”
