A 12-year-old drummer has taken Britain’s Got Talent by storm, leaving judges and viewers stunned after a high-energy performance set to The Killers. Nancy Tilley, from Scarborough, walked onto the stage with a calm and quiet presence but what followed was anything but expected.

“Can you reach that microphone?” the judges joked as Nancy introduced herself. “My name’s Nancy. I’m 12 years old,” she said, revealing that her parents were in the audience supporting her. Admitting she felt a little nervous, she added that appearing on the show had “always been my dream.”
But the moment the music started, everything changed. Nancy launched into a powerful, fast-paced drumming performance, packed with sharp fills, tight rhythm, and explosive energy that instantly lit up the room. Judges were visibly shocked, with one noting they expected “a lovely song from Frozen” only for Nancy to “go nuts behind there” and completely flip expectations.

The reaction was immediate. Simon Cowell exclaimed “incredible” not once, but twice, clearly impressed by her control and confidence. Amanda Holden told her she had “brought the house down,” while Alesha Dixon praised how she “came alive” behind the drums. KSI added, “You should be so happy and proud of yourself,” highlighting both her skill and stage presence. The result: a clean sweep of four yes votes and a standing ovation.

What makes Nancy’s audition even more impressive is that this wasn’t her first big win. Before stepping onto the BGT stage, she had already been crowned champion of the “Scarborough Search for a Star” in 2024, where she impressed with both drumming and vocals. She has also performed internationally, playing with live bands in places like Fuerteventura at just 10 and 11 years old, and even earned Grade 8 in drumming from Trinity College of Music—a level many musicians take years to reach.

Nancy’s musical journey started incredibly early—she revealed she has been playing drums for eight years, meaning she began at just four years old. Her dedication shows not only in her technical ability but also in her confidence and joy on stage. Clips of her audition are already spreading online, with fans calling her a “future rockstar” and “one of the best young drummers” ever seen on the show.
Beyond the skill, it’s her energy and love for performing that truly set her apart. As one judge put it, “You were like a professional up there.” And with her journey on Britain’s Got Talent now officially underway, Nancy Tilley is proving that age is no barrier when it comes to talent—and that her dream of making it big in music might be closer than ever.
