Kelly Clarkson leaves ‘America’s Got Talent’ winner in tears with a cover so powerful, it might be better than the original

The ‘American Idol’ alum’s fans say her version of the song gave them ‘chills.’

It’s not unusual for Kelly Clarkson fans to gush over her “Kellyoke” performances, sharing how emotional her singing makes them.

But now, one of the artists that she covered on the musical series on her eponymous talk show is chiming in.

On Nov. 15, a video was posted on social media of the “Behind These Hazel Eyes” songstress taking to the stage to give a moving rendition of “What’s Left of Me” by Grace VanderWaal.

The America’s Got Talent winner was clearly moved by the performance, writing “I’m crying you killed this.”

VanderWaal was not alone in that sentiment, as fans rushed to the comments to praise Clarkson’s interpretation.

“Chills! Those vocals ❤️🙌🔥🔥🔥,” wrote one commenter, while another agreed, writing, “Wow. So beautiful – truly can sing anything and bring new life to lyrics. Love you Kelly ♥️.”

“Yes, you can sing anything Kelly! … and this is what I am talking about!… not sure if you’re singing it for your ex… but I am sure a lot of us, Can relate!!… keep on singing Kelly!💪🏻,” said a third.

One fan summed it up by commenting, “There might not be another who can cover absolutely any song and it sounds better than the original. Quite a gift, a gift @kellyclarksonshow seems to have taken good care of.”

Still another asked “Ok but can we get a mini album of all your covers from your show?!”

Earlier this week, Clarkson delighted fans with another cover, this time with a country twist.

The American Idol winner sang a version of Sabrina Carpenter’s hit “Please Please Please,” but gave it a soulful twang that her fans loved.

After the performance, Clarkson shared that she has always felt like the song “lends itself” to the genre, and fans agreed, writing, “I love the original, but this makes it so new!”
