Susan Boyle’s Ethereal Rendition of “Climb Ev’ry Mountain” Will Leave You Spellbound

Susan Boyle has been known for her stunning musical theater covers since 2009, and a decade later she surely didn’t disappoint with another classic.

In 2019, the Britain’s Got Talent Season 3 finalist recorded a breathtaking version of ”Climb Ev’ry Mountain” from The Sound of Music for her album Ten. During her version, she sang in the most heavenly tone, while a backup choir made her sound even more full.

This isn’t the only time that Boyle has channeled her love for musical theater. In 2012, she teamed up with the one and only Donny Osmond for a duet of ”This is the Moment” from the 1990 musical Jekyll & Hyde while on Dancing with the Stars. Check out their version here.In a 2019 interview with People, Boyle opened up about what she loves so much about performing.

“I’m in my own little bubble on the stage, conveying a story and it really is my happy place,” she told the outlet. “I get great enjoyment making the audience happy. My career has never been about earning money or really even chart positions, I just love to be on stage and singing.”

What to know about ”Climb Ev’ry Mountain” from The Sound of Music

Written by legendary composers Rodgers and Hammerstein for the 1959 musical, ”Climb Ev’ry Mountain” takes place at the end of the first act by character Mother Abbess as a symbol of hope. The song has since been covered by Tony Bennett, Andy Williams, Christina Aguilera, Audra McDonald, Barbara Streisand, and more.

In 2022, Playbill listed ”Climb Ev’ry Mountain” as the best Rodgers and Hammerstein tune. ”The song is so ubiquitous because of its quality and impact,” the outlet wrote of the track. ”There’s a reason Rodgers & Hammerstein gave this song to a nun; it is spiritual. The theatre is a temple and Rodgers & Hammerstein have given us a holy benediction,” it added.
