On Tuesday night, Richard Goodall took the stage for his final performance on “America’s Got Talent.”

The Terre Haute, Indiana native, who became a fan favorite, closed out his run on Season 19 with another stunning cover from the iconic band Journey during the final round. This performance capped off a remarkable journey, which saw him deliver standout renditions of Journey’s “Don’t Stop Believin’,” Michael Bolton’s “How Am I Supposed to Live Without You,” and Survivor’s “Eye of the Tiger.”

Now, as his fate rests in the hands of the fans, anticipation builds for the show’s finale.

Reflecting on his experience, Richard shared nostalgic memories of his early days, singing alone in his room as a child.

“I was just a kid belting out tunes,” Richard recalled. “At some point, I realized I needed a job, so I became a janitor at Chauncey Rose Middle School, just down the street from where I grew up. I’m not a fancy guy—I clean up, take out the trash, and sweep the floors. It’s all about having fun and spreading joy.”

His students, who often overheard him singing, encouraged him to audition for “America’s Got Talent.”

“When I left Indianapolis for the audition, I felt like I was flying. It’s that feeling of being slightly off balance, but in a good way. You never know if something is right for you until you take that leap. I still get goosebumps thinking about it.”
