Reba McEntire Can’t Hold Back Her Joy as Katie O Rocks “Hang Tight Honey” But Faces a Shocking Elimination

More of The Voice Season 26 Playoffs aired Monday night (November 25) and brought some impressive country covers from Team Reba and Team Snoop.

After weeks of intense competition, each of The Voice coaches now have only five team members remaining. During the second night of The Playoffs, it was Coach Reba and Coach Snoop’s turn to choose which two artists they want to move on to next week’s live semi-final shows.

Each of their remaining team members had the opportunity to convince their coach to keep them by delivering performances of songs chosen themselves. Songs from Chris Stapleton, Lainey Wilson, and Reba McEntire took a turn in the spotlight, and perhaps one of the best covers came from one of this season’s favorite country artists, Katie O. The Jacksonville, Florida, teen took the stage to deliver a feisty rendition of Lainey Wilson’s “Hang Tight Honey.”

The song was a fitting choice for Katie as Lainey was this week’s Playoff Advisor for Team Reba. During rehearsals, Wilson thanked Katie for choosing her song and gave her some gentle coaching about how to perform it.

Following her performance, the other coaches praised her cover, with Michael Buble comparing her to Taylor Swift and Reba calling her a “breath of fresh air.”

Viewers had mixed reactions to the performance. Some felt that she crushed it and said that she had a promising future in country music. But others commented that she lacked energy and didn’t stand out from other country singers.

Who Is Katie O?

Katie O is one of few artists who earned a coveted four-chair turn during her The Voice Blind Audition this season. Her performance of LeAnn Rimes’ 1996 hit, “One Way Ticket,” caused all of the coaches to turn their red chairs and fight for the singer.

Reba praised Katie’s sound, saying, “You’ve got a lot of heart and soul in your singing.” Each of the other coaches tried to woo her, but ultimately Katie chose to join Team Reba.

What Was Katie O’s Voice Playoff fate?

At the end of Monday night’s two-hour episode, Reba McEntire was tasked with eliminating three of her team members, leaving only two to compete in next week’s semi-finals.

She chose to move forward with Adam Bohanan and Danny Joseph, meaning that Katie O’s Voice journey has come to an end. But we are certain that this is just the beginning for the talented singer.
