They tried once again to put an end to the crisis rumors and spoke about it openly as guests of Mara Venier. Il Volo confessed the divisions.

Piero, Ignazio, and Gianluca appeared on TV more united than ever and, once again, silenced the rumors of a split. After their guest appearance with Alessandro Cattelan on Rai 2’s Late Night, they returned to a studio they know very well and to a host they are deeply fond of.
On Sunday, March 24, they were guests of Mara Venier on Domenica In; there, they sang but above all had the chance to enjoy a long conversation with the “Auntie” of Italian television. The interview was part of the promotional program for Ad Astra, Il Volo’s first album of original songs, which will be released on March 29. But it was also part of the Sunday ritual on Rai’s flagship channel, which, in the weeks after the Sanremo Festival, hosts each participant one by one.
During the chat, the three young singers talked about the upcoming album as well as their 15-year career, during which they went from adolescence to adulthood. And to those who ask them what they feel about their “missed adolescence,” Ignazio replied: “We didn’t miss out on anything. We didn’t live it, but we did what we still do today.” For them, that delicate phase was their normality, with no point of comparison.
But it was also another chance to address the “crisis” issue and try, once and for all, to silence the rumors of a breakup.
Ignazio, the peacemaker of the trio – but fans can rest assured: Il Volo is not breaking up
They spoke about their countless worldwide successes and awards, but not only that. The conversation was also an opportunity to touch again on the theme of “maretta” (a little tension), as Mara Venier called it.
This time, Piero spoke up:
“The tension? We’re used to fake news. It all started with an interview Ignazio didn’t attend during Sanremo week. In that interview, we talked about the cover night, and he (pointing to Gianluca) said we wanted to prove we could also be something else. I got annoyed and said, ‘Speak for yourself,’ and they took that as a sign. But it wasn’t like that.”
The reference was to the now-famous “argument” between Piero and Gianluca during a live radio broadcast—the supposed clue that fueled rumors of a crisis and the trio’s imminent breakup.
At that point, Piero also admitted that he and Gianluca are the opposite poles of Il Volo and that it falls to Ignazio to play the role of mediator between the two.
“I’m the Mattarella of the situation” – Ignazio ends the discussion
The key message the singers want to convey is that Il Volo is made up of three different people, with different tastes and inclinations. They share a vision—otherwise, they would never have made it to 15 years of career together—but naturally, there are character differences.
To hopefully put the matter to rest once and for all, Ignazio admitted:
“We always argue. Even if we’re together, we’re split. I’m like Mattarella for the two of them. In the end, people talk a lot, but words are carried away by the wind.”
In other words: fans can relax—Il Volo is here to stay for at least another 15 years.
