How Much Does It Cost to Win The Voice? The Real Worth of Winning The Voice Shocks Fans

It is without a doubt that one of The Voice’s main appeals is seeing A-list coaches take their big red chairs every single week for several months. However, those talented coaches and their presence would seemingly mean nothing if it wasn’t for the contestants they are coaching. Hence, at the heart of The Voice and its four coaches are the contestants battling it out for first place.

For all of the contestants who compete on the show, the chance is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity. Besides garnering eyeballs and building up their musical identity, the contestants stand to win some invaluable prizes regarding their music career and general livelihood. That being so, here is what the winner of The Voice receives every year.

‘The Voice’s’ Cash Prize

Ever since The Voice started in 2011, the sum of the cash prize has always remained the same. Every year the winner of the show receives $100,000. Furthermore, the winning contestant also has the potential to earn royalties on future music sales. However, this prize money does not come without some rules and stipulations.

According to the New York Daily News, if a winner of the show breaches their contract with NBC they will lose their prize money. Furthermore, if the sum of the earnings is revealed, the winner can also be subjected to a lawsuit ranging from $100,000 to $1 million. However, if all regulations and contract agreements are followed, the winning contestant will walk away with the $100,00 seemingly unscathed.

Signing a Record Deal

Even though signing a record deal is not a golden ticket to fandom, it certainly does not hurt having one. Thus, every winning contestant of The Voice receives a guaranteed record deal offer from Universal Music Group. However, some past winners decided to go in their own direction for numerous reasons.

Despite being guaranteed a record deal with only one label, being on The Voice still acquires the winning contestant with loads of notoriety and the ability to sign with a different label. Hence, past winners Danielle Bradberry and Cassadee Pope were able to sign record deals with Big Machine Record Label Group.

Again, none of these perks solidify a successful career. However, the $100,000 and guaranteed record deal have surely been lucrative and beneficial to the winning contestants.
