Eleven-year-old Olly Pearson, a prodigious guitarist from Wrexham, has captured worldwide attention following the viral Bohemian Rhapsody flash mob in Paris.
The large-scale performance — led by singer Mickey Callisto and pianist Julien Cohen, supported by a full ensemble of 30 musicians — transformed the streets of Paris into a living stage, celebrating the 50th anniversary of Queen’s legendary anthem.
For Olly, the experience was surreal. The young musician, who first rose to prominence on Britain’s Got Talent 2025 after receiving the rare honor of two golden buzzers, played a standout role in the flash mob. His confident stage presence and skilled guitar work impressed fans across the globe. “It’s been incredible… I didn’t really know what to do at first,” Olly admitted. “Everything feels so new and exciting.”
A Young Talent with Deep Roots
Olly’s journey into music began in North Wales and Chester, where he first performed locally and spent hours busking. His grandfather, Lee, introduced him to the guitar, while his father, Simon, has been a constant source of encouragement. During the COVID-19 lockdown, Olly devoted himself to practice, shaping his energetic and passionate rock style. His influences span some of the greatest names in rock history, including Guns N’ Roses, AC/DC, Aerosmith, and Bon Jovi.
That dedication has already paid off. His performances combine youthful energy with surprising technical skill, making him one of the most promising young guitarists in the UK today.
A Parisian Spectacle
The Paris flash mob was unlike any ordinary performance. Callisto and Cohen orchestrated a breathtaking outdoor event that blended music and theater in the heart of the city. As Olly performed alongside 30 musicians, the atmosphere built into something extraordinary.
In the second part of the flash mob, an additional 20 opera singers joined from surrounding windows, creating one of the largest and most ambitious open-air renditions of Bohemian Rhapsody ever staged. The harmonies soared through the streets, leaving both passersby and online audiences stunned.
Fans online described the event as “chilling” and “unforgettable,” with many noting how it captured the spirit of Freddie Mercury and Queen’s timeless masterpiece.
Looking Ahead
Despite the sudden international spotlight, Olly remains grounded. His parents, particularly his father Simon, are carefully considering his next steps. “We’re thinking carefully about what’s next,” Simon Pearson shared. “He’s still learning, but the potential is there — and we want him to enjoy it every step of the way.”
For Olly, this moment is more than just viral fame. It reflects his passion for music and the power of collaboration. From playing on the streets of Chester to sharing the stage in Paris with professional musicians, he has shown that talent and dedication can create experiences that resonate far beyond a single performance.
As Olly continues to study and refine his craft, one thing is certain: this young guitarist has already left an impression on audiences around the world — and his story is only just beginning.
